Similar to how things are now, during the Industrial Revolution, the families that are affected the most and suffered the most were the poor families. In desperation, many families had to turn to live in houses set up by the government called, "Poor Houses." These houses were designed to be like jails, with harsh living conditions, and poor resources. They were designed this way to discourage people from living off of the Government.

During the Industrial Revolution, many families were effected and forced to make drastic changes to their everyday lifestyles. Families that were used to typically working near or at their homes, now had to live in crowded conditions in cities, and instead of working on the land, had to work in factories, or in mines. Child Labor did not start during the Industrial Revolution, but during this time period, children at very young ages were put to work in factories or mines with terrible health, and physical conditions. Some factory/mine owners sometimes were also very abusive towards the children and were never accounted for.
During the Industrial Revolution, working in the cities and urbanization were made more popular, instead of farming and living in the country. Families who were used to a lifestyle in the country had to now make a living in the city.
